WILLOW -- Alaska children's book author Ann Dixon read stories about mushing and sled dogs to local children during Story Hour at the Willow Public Library on March 10. Then the group moved outdoors to meet musher Karin Hendrickson and one of her sled dogs, Taz. The children took turns riding on the sled runners while Taz and other "sled dogs" pulled them around the community center parking lot. After the hands-on mushing demonstration, the children returned to the library where they cut, colored and glued paper dog teams.

Dixon reads to the Story Hour kids (3- to 6-year-olds) every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Willow Public Library. Her program usually includes stories, songs, rhymes and crafts.
