I live in Willow so that I can raise my family in a safe environment and can pursue my dog mushing.
I am a strong believer in protecting property rights and I am against Prop 1. It is called the Private Property Protection Act, but I am concerned that Prop. 1 does everything but protect my private property. Prop. 1 will take away my right to a public hearing if my neighbor files a claim I don’t like. Prop. 1 will lower my property values if my neighbor gets a waiver for a gravel pit, race track or other similar use. Prop. 1 will increase my property taxes in order to pay for the extra staff, legal fees and claims bound to result from the passage of Prop. 1.
I encourage everyone to read the whole ordinance available on the Mat-Su Borough’s Web site and vote “no” on Prop. 1 on Oct. 2.
