Janet Sweeney, chairperson for the Willow Dog Mushers K9 Athlete Symposium held in September, recently presented Willow Elementary School teacher Skip Davenport with a check from the Willow Dog Mushers Association in the amount of $1000. The check was in appreciation of the fifth- and sixth-graders who helped out with the symposium dinner. The children helped serve beverages, food and bused tables. Because the symposium was such a success, WDMA members voted to share some of the funds with the school children so they could have a great trip. Davenport was genuinely surprised by the amount and the children erupted in cheers and applause.
