Palmer resident Wilson Daniel Neufeld, 67, died Dec. 5, 2004, of lung cancer, at the home of his sister and brother-in-law.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, at Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Wasilla. Pastor Wendell Terwilliger will officiate.
Mr. Neufeld was born Dec. 21, 1936, in Borger, Texas. He graduated from high school in Farmington, N.M. He moved to Alaska from New Mexico in 1966, resided in Anchorage until 2000 and then lived in Palmer until his death.
Mr. Neufeld worked in construction and heavy equipment, and was a real estate broker for his own office for a few years in the late 1970s. He retired from Laborers Union #341 about 15 years ago.
His family wrote, "We will forever be proud to have had Wilson for a brother, uncle and friend. He will truly be missed. Wilson was a kind of private person, but he really did love people, and especially kids. Wilson was a great conversationalist, always interested in what you had to say and well-read on most all subjects. Wilson was generous with what little he had and always ready with a smile. Wilson is close with God and spent many enjoyable hours reading the Bible."
Mr. Neufeld is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Stan Heintzman; nephews and nieces, Roger and Arleen Cowles, Daniel Cowles and Perry and Garie Cowles; stepnephews and nieces, Susan and Roy Rodriguez, Randall Heintzman and Martin and Sarah Heintzman and grandnephews and nieces, Dezarae, Mason, Nelson, Matilda, Camden, Jon, Joe, Becky, Gordon, Kammi, Travis, Monica and Chelsea.
