MAT-SU — Strong, and possibly damaging, winds are expected to continue tonight and through much of Monday morning, the National Weather Service Reports.
A high winds warning has been issued for the Mat-Su Valley through 10 a.m. Monday, the NWS reports. Strong winds in the Mat-Su are ranging from 30 to 50 mph with gusts up to 75 mph.
Repeated attempts to contact Matanuska Electric Association were rolled over to the electric cooperative’s automated system to report power outages. By 8:30 p.m., the system was busy with multiple callers reporting outages and MEA acknowledged an outage in the Willow/Talkeetna area. Deatails about how many residents are without electricity was not immediately available.
