We have been blessed with another mild winter this year. We have had only a little snow and only a little cold and only a little wind.
My son has only had to shovel our driveway once. We don’t mind driving through a little snow in our small car. So far this winter I have only plugged the car in once, and then I probably didn’t have to. We have had some days with some pretty good wind. It seems they came at a good time to blow the snow off our driveway.
It has been a good winter in many ways. I can remember having to plow driveways, fight repeated cold spells of 15 to 20 below zero, and then the wind hit at almost 100 mph. Of course, winter isn’t over, and we still have plenty of time for all three. I think especially of the cold with snow on the ground, frost on the trees and the quiet peace that is ours.
Of course, the cold means plug in the headbolt heater, turn on the heat tapes for the water lines and having the furnace kick on even though we heat with wood. But the quiet is so outstanding. No wind. Just when we need it most, wind-generated electric power leaves us standing still in the dark and left out in the cold.
