Winky come back home

To the editor:

Four years ago, I fell in love with a kitten who had had been abused by a human. His eye had been poked out, they smashed in his little mouth, and broke his tail. He had given up. They explained he wouldn’t eat and only weighed about 3 pounds. He was also very sick with upper respiratory infection. They I fell in love with him and brought him home. I had a contest... on the radio what to name him, and the name “Winky” was the perfect fit. He started to eat after many vet visits and teeth that had been broken were removed. He was the happiest cat I’ve ever owned. We discovered he was about 3 years old. He was not a kitten as we first thought; he was malnourished. That was four years ago.

Since then he became my little watch cat...he had acute hearing, he was a greeter, every time I came into the house he would run down to meet me. He didn’t really meow...it sounded more like “MEEE!” My 14-year-old cat Thumper fell in love with him, too. They were buddies. It was hard for me to be sad around Winky...so many adorable traits. Both of my cats stay indoors.

Friday night I had some friends over and Winky got out. I haven’t seen him since. Friends have come over, we scowered the neighborhood. I have signs up, shelters have been notified, Craig’s list. My heart is broken. I’m beginning to think someone has taken him in. He is missing from the Three Bears area off Pittman. I beg of you, if you are reading this and know of someone who has taken him in, I want him to come back home. This is the last ditch effort, I don’t know what else to do. I am afraid for him and he is missed very much...his big brother “Thumper” walks around and meows…he misses him, as well. Thank you for reading this and help spread the news so Winky can come back home. We have a very strong bond, as I saved his life, and he has given me a happier life.
