WASILLA — Alaska State Troopers say a 20-year-old Wasilla woman got to spend more time behind bars than she bargained for when she was arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into Goose Creek Correctional Facility on Monday.
According to a trooper dispatch, Tiffany Becker was just visiting at Goose Creek when she was found trying to pass drugs to an inmate at the prison.
Instead of a short visit at Goose Creek, Becker went directly to jail at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility, where she was held on $1,500 bail on charges of fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and first-degree promoting contraband.
Smuggling drugs into Mat-Su jails and prisons has been a persistent issue for corrections officers. In December 2015, Andrew Moffitt and Brandon Seavey were caught while allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into Mat-Su Pretrial facility during separate incidents. And last February, four people were arrested for attempting to smuggle an estimated $9,000 worth of meth and heroin into Goose Creek.
