PALMER — A woman was jailed Thursday after troopers say she threw a knife at her spouse, hitting him in the shoulder.
Tinasha Q. Peterson-Wallize, 30, of Palmer, was charged with second-degree assault and jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility without bail pending arraignment.
Troopers say they were called to a disturbance on Vermilion Drive at 10:34 p.m. Thursday. There, they found that the spouse had been struck in the shoulder by a knife Peterson-Wallize had thrown, according to a trooper press statement.
Prison records Monday afternoon showed she’d bailed out of jail since her arrest.
Man jailed after court-house disturbance
PALMER — A man was arrested during a hearing at the courthouse Friday after troopers say he wouldn’t stop talking to a person who’d filed a protective order against him.
Grover Timothy Neely, 54, of Wasilla, was arrested at 2:05 p.m. on Friday. Troopers say they were called to the courtroom where Neely was participating in a court hearing after getting word of a disturbance.
Despite the victim having a domestic violence protective order against him, troopers report, Neely, “communicated to the victim and continued to do so even after being admonished and advised by the presiding judge to cease speaking and stop interrupting the proceeding.”
Neely was charged with violating a protective order and jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $1,000 bail. Prison records Monday afternoon showed he was still in jail.
Two men caught with stolen goods
WASILLA — Two men were jailed after Alaska State Troopers a traffic stop for expired registration wound up uncovering $3,000 worth of items stolen from burglarized storage units.
John Sida, 28, of Anchorage, was stopped while driving his 1998 Nissan near Home Depot in Wasilla at 2:12 a.m. on Saturday. Troopers say his passenger, Matagi Ala, 33, also of Anchorage, initially gave a fake name because he had multiple felony warrants out for his arrest.
Troopers say a search of the car’s interior turned up multiple items stolen during the burglaries of storage units at Settlers Bay Self Storage and estimated the items’ value at $3,000.
Ala and Sida were arrested, charged with multiple burglary and theft counts and jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Sida’s bail was set at $2,500. Ala’s bail was set at $7,500 with an additional $2,500 tacked on because of the warrants, troopers said.
Prison records Monday afternoon showed Sida has since bailed out of jail but Ala remains incarcerated.
Dirt bikers stranded overnight
CHICKALOON — A pair of motorcyclists who spent an unplanned night in the woods were found safe and sound Sunday.
Troopers say they got the call about the overdue men at 5:27 a.m. when Maret Anderson, 48, of Anchorage, called to report her husband, Eugene Anderson, 56, of Anchorage and his two friends, Thomas Kowalke, 32, and Dan Nicholl, 54, both of Anchorage, hadn’t returned home the night before.
Anderson said her husband usually parks his pickup at about Mile 98 Glenn Highway, near Puritan Creek. Troopers found the pickup and talked to some nearby campers who said they’d seen three men on dirt bikes at 10:30 the previous morning near Boulder Creek.
At 10:38 a.m. troopers launched their helicopter. At 12:13 p.m. Anderson reported her husband had called to say the dirt bikes had gotten water logged crossing multiple rivers and that he and his friends had stayed the night to let them dry out but were now making their way back to the pickup. The men were eventually found at Mile 92 Glenn Highway, where they reported no injuries.
