A Wasilla woman and her 6-year-old son were transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries after a single-vehicle rollover accident on Willow Fishhook Road Saturday evening.
Mary Parkes, 38, was driving toward the Parks Highway on Willow Fishhook Road when the vehicle rolled near Deception Creek, ejecting Parkes and her passenger, son Daniel Parkes.
Alaska State Troopers responded to the scene at 5:43 p.m., July 14 for a report that Parkes and the child had been ejected from the vehicle and were unconscious.
Troopers with the Talkeetna Post and Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol investigated the crash and determined that Parkes lost control of the vehicle. It crossed into the oncoming lane and went into the ditch, where it rolled several times, according to trooper dispatch statements.
Neither person was wearing a seat belt, and both were ejected from the vehicle and transported for treatment of serious injuries, troopers said.
Spokesperson Megan Peters said Mary Parkes was transported to a hospital in Anchorage and her son was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.
Peters said troopers had a report of the possibility that a second child was in the vehicle. The child was located later and was safe, she said.
Investigation into the accident is ongoing, troopers report.
