Woman dies in fire

PALMER -- A 40-year-old woman died in a trailer at Fox Run RV Park early Sunday morning in a fire investigators believe may have started from an electrical short in the wiring.

The state medical examiner has still not established positive identification on the victim, but is in the process of obtaining medical and dental records to establish her identity.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was Becky L. Haines.

The state fire marshal's preliminary investigation lists the fire as "accidental" with the probable cause being electric wiring under the floor, said Alaska State Trooper spokesman Greg Wilkinson.

"The investigation is continuing, but foul play is not suspected at this time," he said.

Firefighters responded to the fire at about 4:46 a.m. Sunday after an unknown person called 911.

The fire was out and fire workers were cleaning up debris when they found the woman's body, Wilkinson said.
