CASWELL LAKE - An Anchorage woman suffered minor injuries after she wandered into the path of gunfire where her friends were target shooting.
On July 13, Sandra Armstrong, 38, was with friends at a lot in the Caswell Lakes area, where the group was lighting fireworks and shooting a .22-caliber rifle and a .30-06 rifle, according to Alaska State Trooper Ted Norris.
During a break, unbeknownst to her friends, Armstrong apparently left the group to use the outhouse, which was in the direction the group had been shooting.
As she returned from the outhouse, the shooting resumed and Armstrong was peppered with gunshot. Norris said several shots were fired before Armstrong called attention to herself.
Troopers do not intend to file any charges as a result of the shooting.
Were talking about a group of people with poor gun-handling skills, Norris said.
