WASILLA — Amber Lanphier is supporting local entrepreneurs with a bright, clean, open co-working space called Workspace Alaska.
Lanphier hosted an open house Dec. 7 following a ribbon cutting ceremony to display the new space to potential entrepreneurs and creative professionals requiring an innovative workspace.
“We have this whole section of businesses experiencing growing pains when you only have retail space available,” Lanphier said.
The space Lanphier is renting as Workspace Alaska to those needing a temporary workspace is located on East Paulson Avenue and occupies 900 square feet currently, but Lanphier hopes to expand the space to offer more group entrepreneurial activities such as classes, parties, and photo shoot sessions. Lanphier has hosted a small handful of groups at Workspace Alaska prior to the open house showing and says that a gap exists between local business owners working out of their own homes and the high price of retail space available in the Valley. Hoping to alleviate the need for a place to work and conduct business and the costs of owning a space, Lanphier has offered Workspace Alaska as an office space for creatives and entrepreneurs looking to avoid the major costs of their own storefront. As the chapter leader of the Rising Tide Society for the past three years, Lanphier has seen business owners have difficulty moving their operation out of their own homes.
“For myself, I’ve recognized the clarity you have when you can walk away from laundry and everything else you have going in the house you can come here and focus and get stuff done,” Lanphier said.
Lanphier offers rates for individuals to use the modern space with premium WiFi for daily or monthly rates.
