Hatcher Pass Baptist Association is hosting "World Changers" a group of teen-age students from around the country who will helping repair homes for those in need.
More than 400 students are coming to Alaska as part of the program. They will be in Palmer, Nikiski and Anchorage from mid-June through mid-July. The Palmer group arrives July 19 and will be here for a week.
Last year, World Changers came to the Valley and helped fix up a number of homes.
The students pay their own way to Alaska and the other communities to which they travel.
The World Changers program got started in 1990, when 137 volunteers refurbished several homes in Tennessee.
Since then, more than 100,000 student volunteers have renovated more than 7,500 homes in 350 communities.
This year alone, more than 23,000 students are working in 89 projects from Alaska to Puerto Rico. World Changers is a project of the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
Several churches in the Valley have already agreed to provide lunches for the workers, but Hatcher Pass Baptist Association is still looking for more churches to help.
For more information about how to donate lunches for work groups, interested people can call Hatcher Pass Baptist Association at (907) 694-4807 or 1-888-690-9688.
