Wrong medals for veterans

To the editor:

I greatly enjoy reading the “Hometown Heroes” pieces in the paper lately. We all owe an immense debt to this generation of heroes who are sadly now passing from us.

I am a bit perplexed by the image of the medals associated with the stories, however. I doubt our veterans actually received all those British medals for World War II service depicted in the accompanying picture, including (from right to left in the picture) the War Medal 1939-1945, the Italy Star, the Burma Star with Pacific Clasp, the Africa Star with Clasp, and the Royal Navy Atlantic Star. Perhaps a new picture should be substituted? I suspect our veterans would appreciate U.S. decorations being depicted next to their images.
