To the editor:
The positive educational and economic future for the Mat-Su Borough will be greatly impacted by borough voters with the approval of Proposition 3 — schools and infrastructure to finance the acquisition, design, construction and major renovations and renewal of educational capital improvement projects and related capital improvements area-wide for the Mat-Su Borough.
How will your yes vote positively impact the Mat-Su Borough?
• For students: Provide a safe environment maximizing learning to avoid overcrowding with new school construction, address much-needed deferred maintenance projects and life safety needs.
• For economic reasons: Construction dollars will be re-circulated in the borough with a potential for 10 times the original bond investment.
• For the local share: Mat-Su Borough’s share is only 30 percent. The state’s share, 70 percent, is acquired from statewide revenue available to statewide school districts.
• For jobs: Local hire and enhanced benefits for Mat-Su businesses through jobs needed for construction and other improvements.
District-wide schools will also benefit, as seen in this link that has detained description for all projects:

Mat Su School District continues to provide and expect an inclusive curricular and co-curricular educational program will continue to be available today and for our future students as evidenced by the Mat-Su Borough School District Strategic Plan 2011-12 adopted by the Mat-Su school board Aug. 17. Those goals include:
• Improve student success, achievement and performance by focusing on career and college readiness.
• Increase the graduation rate.
• Welcome families and community members in the education of our youth.
• Create and maintain a safe and healthy environment for our students and staff.
Your commitment to make a difference for the Mat-Su Borough will make a positive impact for many years to come when you vote yes for Proposition 3, schools and infrastructure, on Oct. 4.
