WASILLA — Four local swimmers excelled during the Alaska Age Group Swimming Championships in Juneau in late February.
Three of those swimmers compete for the Wasilla Waves Swim Club.
Jake Simmons of the Waves won six of the seven events he competed in, and finished second overall in the 11-year-old age group. Simmons won the 100-yard breaststroke, 400 individual medley, 50 breaststroke, 50 butterfly, 200 breaststroke and 100 individual medley.
Sarah Crosley, 11, finished in the top-22 in three events.
Joseph Anderson finished fifth overall in the 13-year-old age group. Anderson was second in the 200 breaststroke and 100 breaststroke, and third in the 200 individual medley and 400 individual medley.
Maddie Vig of the Northern Lights Swim Club finished seventh overall in the 11-year-old girls age group. Vig finished second in the 50 backstroke and third in the 50 breaststroke, 50 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 100 individual medley.
