Ada Evelyn Webb, 86, died June 30, 2012, in the comfort of her home with her family present.

Ada’s celebration of life was July 3 at the Valley Church of Christ. Minister Robert Kuenning officiated.

Ada was born Oct. 5, 1925, in Rimbey, Alberta, Canada, on a farm where the water source came from a spring a quarter of a mile from her home. For school, she had to walk 3 miles to attend in a one-room building where they taught first- to eighth-graders.

Winters were sometimes severe with two feet of snow, blizzards and temperatures to 60 below. Going to school was not easy, but Ada finished eighth grade. Being raised as she was, there wasn’t really anything she couldn’t tackle and do a good job at. She had many skills that equipped her to do it all: carpentry, plumbing, electrical work — you name it, she could do it as well or better than professionals.

She married her husband, Chester, in 1943, and followed him in The Royal Canadian Air Force until 1946. They moved to Santa Monica, Calif., in 1952, and purchased an auto supply company, which they ran until 1994. In 1990, they relocated to Wasilla, designed their own home and loved it.

All who had contact with Ada admired and loved her. She will certainly be missed by all.

Surviving are her loving husband, Chester R. Webb of Wasilla; daughter, Darlene Rose of Florida; granddaughters, Darlene of Florida and Laurie of Pennsylvania; daughter, Bonnie (Ron) Burkhardsmeier of Wasilla; grandson, Jason Muslin of Wasilla; great-granddaughter, Chelsea of Wasilla; grandson, Kyle (Niki) Muslin of Wasilla; great-grandson, Preston of Wasilla; great-granddaughter, Mylie Jo of Wasilla; granddaughter, Ada (Nathan) Dee of North Carolina; great-granddaughters, Sierra Skye and Patience of North Carolina; great-grandson, Kiernan of North Carolina; daughter, Evelyn Webb of Idaho; and grandson, Jeff Schmidt of Wisconsin.

Preceding her in death was her daughter, Diane Webb; grandson, Chris Watts; and twin granddaughters, Charolett and Denise Giles.

In honor of Ada Evelyn Webb, donations can be made to the American Lung Association.
