Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Ada L. Cameron (Mutsy), 62, died Dec. 5 at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer. There was a private service for the family on Dec. 8 at Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla.
Ada was born Aug. 24, 1947 in Oregon to Raymond and Pauline Conquest. During her life she was employed as a hair stylist, seamstress, kitchen help at the Alaska Native Medical Center and also worked at the Bureau of Indian Affairs as a secretary until retiring in 1993. In her free time Ada enjoyed spending time with family and baking. For a brief time Ada lived in Kenewick, Wash., and Las Vegas, Nevada but spent most of her life right here in Alaska with her friends and family.
Her family stated, “She was a very loving daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always there to lend a hand to everyone around her. She would give anything for her animals, Roscoe and Suzy, or her family. She very much enjoyed her Eskimo food. She enjoyed cooking for her family. She was a very selfless individual and will truly be missed.”
Ada is survived by her father, Raymond Conquest of Dillingham; mother, Pauline Hart of Wasilla; brother, Glen Hart of Glennallen; sister, Jackie Hart of Wasilla; daughter, Beverly Barker of Chugiak; son, William Thomas Cameron III of Wasilla; daughter, Tonia Marie Olson of Wasilla; daughter, Laquenta Rae Cameron of Wasilla; granddaughter, Tisha Zeutzius of Anchorage; grandson, Duane Thomas Olson of Anchorage; granddaughters, Casey Denise Perkins of Anchorage and Roslyn Ann Cameron of Wasilla and nine other grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Hart.
Her ashes will be going back home to Dillingham.
Valley Funeral Home is caring for the family.
