Our Heavenly Father unexpectedly called Alan Richard Damkoehler home on October 7, 2024. He was born in Ludington, Michigan to Richard and Alice (Hasenbank) Damkoehler on May 17, 1948. Alan graduated from Custer High School of Custer, Michigan in 1966. After graduating he worked at the Farm Bureau Store in Scottville, Michigan until he was drafted into the Army in 1968. After serving his country for most of the two years in Alaska, he came back to Michigan and married Janet (Bushong) from Crystal Valley, Michigan on October 24, 1970. He moved his wife and three children to Alaska in 1984. Alan served his Alaskan community with CAP Search and Rescue Team. He operated Al's Auto Body in Anchorage for many years and moved his business to Butte, AK until 2012. He was an active member of TFO until his passing. Hunting the Alaskan wilds was his most favorite thing to do. He was a kind, generous and giving man and was always willing to help a person in need.
He is survived by his wife Janet, daughter Lisa (Jason) Gray of El Paso, TX, son Chad (Kimberly) Damkoehler, and son Aaron (Devon) Damkoehler of Wasilla, AK and his siblings Douglas (Kathy) Damkoehler of Fountain, Michigan and Bruce Damkoehler of Grand Rapids, Michigan, his grandchildren Chelsea, Logan, Jaden, Nathan, Asher, Keira, Brandy, Monica, Cassandra, Carlyna, Caitlyn, Tryston and Isaiah as well as great grandchildren Oliver, Archie, Robbie, Sean, Claire, Autumn, Marilyn, John and Samantha and numerous great great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Alan was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Alice Damkoehler, brother Paul Damkoehler and grandchildren Zackery and Elizabeth Damkoehler. He is being cremated by Legacy Funeral Home in Wasilla, AK. His ashes will be scattered in the summer of 2025 over Knob Hill, ("Al's Knob") near Eureka, AK.
