Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Alan Wayne Groller, 56, died Aug. 10, 2011, at his home in Wasilla.
Memorial services in honor of Alan are at 3 p.m., Aug. 18 at Valley Funeral Home Chapel, 151 E. Herning Ave., in Wasilla, with Pastor Jeremy Cotton officiating.
Alan was born Sept. 30, 1954, in Anchorage to Alfred and Janice Groller.
Alan worked for the Mat-Su Borough, enjoyed gardening, fishing with friends, playing the guitar and computers.
The family wrote, “He will be missed and remembered as a longtime pioneer of the Wasilla valley.”
Alan is survived by his parents, Alfred and Janice Groller of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; sister and brother in-law, Carolee and Gary Johannes of Anchorage; sister, Kelly Groller of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; sister, Sandra Groller of Wasilla; brother and sister in-law, Randy and Kyme Groller of Denver, Colo.; brother, Robert Groller of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; and longtime friend, Sherlye Hamlett.
Family was cared for by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory.
