Alaska Safe Riders here with your weekly snow and trail report thanks to support from the Mat-Su Health Foundation and the Frontiersman.
We have so much to be thankful for this week; A few inches of fresh snow, cold temperatures to make a strong base, and more new snow in the forecast.
Don’t forget, November is Avalanche Awareness Education month. Alaska has been the site of too many November avalanche fatalities. Don’t become a victim. Make sure you are prepared and check for current snow conditions at alaskasnow.org.
North on the Parks Highway toward Talkeetna you’ll find more than six inches of new snow on a 14-inch base. Beware of early season conditions and watch for overflow on all waterways. Ice depths vary greatly so be alert.
Trails around Point McKenzie are open and reported in good shape and very rideable. The Eureka area off the Glenn Highway is also reported good. Keep to the meadows and trails for the best riding.
Alaska Safe Riders is actively training new instructors to increase education outreach and provide more school, community and riding courses. Learn more and get the latest schedule at alaskasaferiders.org.
Wishing you and your family a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday. That's it for this week. Check in again next week for more updates and tips.
