PALMER — Alaska State Fair CEO Jerome Hertel was recently named the CEO of the Clay County Fair in Spencer Iowa.
Hertel is set to depart from Alaska and begin his new duties in April.
According to a recent press release, ASF Board President, Kristy Bernier informed the board of Hertel's departure earlier this week. She indicated that the board is working to fill the position as soon as possible and she expects a successful 2023 season.
“The entertainment is booked, the vendors are secured and the Fair has a staff with over 170 years of combined experience. We’ll be ready when the doors open.” Bernier stated in the press release.
Hertel is credited for successfully navigating the Fair through the pandemic and leaving the organization in the best financial position of its history. He intends to aid in the transition process.
