Albert Henry Romans, 73, of Palmer passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on May 29, 2014, at the Alaska Veterans & Pioneer Home in Palmer.
Albert was born in Denver, Colorado, on June 28, 1940. He spent 23 years in the United States Navy, reaching the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7). Upon retirement from the Navy, Albert settled in Anchorage where he worked for Tesoro for more than 15 years. At the age of 70, he moved into the Alaska Veterans and Pioneer Home in Palmer, where he made many new friends.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, and he enjoyed outings, reading, family gatherings, and anything related to United States history. Albert will be remembered for his love of God, caring for others, and his sunny/positive disposition. He will be greatly missed.
Albert was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Helen Rinn; admired father, Walter Franklin Romans; brothers, Jim, Louie and Bill Welker, and Earl Romans; and sisters, Edna McCormick and Jeannie Dean.
Albert’s memorial service is at 10:30 a.m., June 16, at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
