Alexi Mykaela Bickers, 20, died unexpectedly March 8, 2012, in Palmer.
A memorial service in honor of Alexi is at 1 p.m., March 17 at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 432 E. Fireweed Ave., Palmer. A celebration of life is at the church following the service. Father Jaime Mencias will officiate.
Alexi was born Oct. 15, 1991, in Palmer, the daughter of Terina Alcantra and Eric Bickers.
As a child, Alexi loved to be outside and especially enjoyed going to the park with friends and family. Alexi grew up in Palmer, but spent a few years in Mesa, Ariz., where she found her love for swimming, sunbathing and fashion. She brought these joys back with her to Alaska, where, despite the cold weather, Alexi continued to enjoy swimming and sunbathing at Kepler Bradley Lake with friends and family.
Alexi was an outgoing, charismatic, loving and contagiously energetic person who had the ability to bring warmth and love with her wherever she went.
She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Lily Vogel, whose smile lit up the room whenever Alexi entered. She always ensured Lily’s wellbeing, care and happiness. Alexi loved to make Lily laugh and she had an uncanny ability to do so.
Alexi had a special place in her heart for her sister, Cara and her brother, Adam. With them she found companionship, confidants and partners in the joy of life. She loved her mom and dad. With her father, she shared common joys of hunting, fishing and soccer. With her mother, she shared the love of music, soccer and family.
She had plans to further her education with the goal of becoming a certified medical assistant in hopes of helping and caring for others.
Alexi was a beautiful, talented, vivacious, spiritual and a loving person who will be missed and celebrated by many.
Preceding her in death was her cousin, Kenny Alcantra.
Surviving are her daughter, Lily Rayne; mother, Terina Alcantra; father, Eric Bickers; sister, Cara Bickers; brother, Adam Bickers; grammy, Laura LaFrance; pepere, Ray LaFrance; paternal grandparents, Don and Diane Bickers and Sandy (nana Banana) Thomas; great-grandmother, Patricia Alcantra; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations for Alexi’s daughter, Lily Vogel, at Mat Valley Federal Credit Union.
Valley Funeral Home and Crematory cared for the family.
