Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Longtime Alaskan and Wasilla resident Al Doner went to be with the Lord October 18, 2024.
Born in Michigan to Alfred and Beatrice Doner, he graduated from Mackinaw High School class of 1958.
After joining the Army, he married Carol and earned his pilot and aircraft mechanic licenses. They eventually moved to Wasilla, Alaska in 1972 with their two young children.
Al loved living in Alaska, sharing his faith and his various inventions and all things aviation and automotive. He spoke often of his gratitude for his salvation and never forgot how blessed he was to have the free gift of forgiveness and how Jesus transformed his life.
Al is survived by his wife Carol and their two children Stephen and Catherine and his brother Randall. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Stephen and Mick and his sister Vonda. Services will be held at Farm Loop Christian Center in Palmer, Alaska on Saturday November 2, 2024 at 2 p.m.
