Alfred Naumann, 82, passed away on Aug. 13, 2014, at home in Wasilla.
A celebration of life is at 2:30 p.m., Sept. 7 at Mat-Su Family Restaurant, 401 E. Parks Hwy.
He was born on May 29, 1932, in Hamburg, Germany. Growing up he was very athletic and at the age of 22 he won the first place championship for Greek-Roman wrestling in Germany. In his early twenties he left Germany. His travels took him to Mexico, Canada and the United States, and soon Alaska became his home. On Dec. 8, 1972, he became a U.S. citizen.
Throughout his life he worked many labor jobs and was a skilled welder by trade. Starting at a young age he had a passion for cars and motorcycles. He took great pride in building his house on Rainbow Lake and enjoyed taking friends out on his boat.
Alfred was a man of few words but he had a warm smile and a big heart. He leaves behind many friends that will miss him very much. Alfred was preceded in death by his mother Elisabeth Naumann, of Germany.
