Alice Mae Beattie, 62, passed away on Nov. 23, 2014, at home with family around her.

Alice was born Sept. 1, 1952, to Harry and Donna Franzen in Devils Lake North Dakota. When she was 4 her family decided to move to Alaska. Alice was a resident in Anchorage for 44 years going to school at Sand Lake Elementary, Wendler Middle school and Diamond High School. After she graduated she went to Trend Setters the school of Cosmetology and Hair Design and then started her own business doing hair and nails out of her home in Anchorage. Later she became a Bartender and worked at the Fireside Lounge, Voyager, The Polar Bar, JJ lounge, and River City. Later moving to the Valley, she became a substitute teacher. Then, deciding to further her career in the service industry, she went to Valley Academy of Nursing Assistance in 1998 where she became a home caregiver.

Alice was prone to loss, losing two of her first husbands. Then she met Richard Beattie with whom she spent the rest of her days with.

Alice was a member of the Gloria Lutheran Church. She loved quilting, crafting, motorcycle rides and cooking.

“She will be forever in our hearts, we will never forget the joy and love she brought into our lives,” her family wrote.

Surviving are her husband, Richard Beattie; sons, Leon and Christen Dwiggins of Anchorage, Ryan Dwiggins of Dallas, Texas, Kyle Dwiggins of Anchorage, and Wade Dwiggins of Anchorage; step-sons, James Beattie of Las Vegas, Nevada, Shanna Wardal of Yuma, Arizona; grandchildren, Taylor Russel, Abby Wardel of Yuma, Arizona and Tristan and Ren of Sitka; sisters, Linda, and David Breuer, Marie and Kris Draper, Karen and Frank Reimann; sister-in-law Deb and Jean Paul Fournier; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews

Preceding her in death were her parents, Harry and Donna Franzen; sister, Janet Miller; husbands, Roger Beasley and Robert Dwiggins; and brother in-law. Duane Sprinkle.

A celebration of life and potluck is at 3 p.m., Nov. 29 at the American Legion Post No. 35 officiated by George Rakos.
