Alison Esther “SonE” Laurie Lewis, 70, passed away in Salem, Ore., on June 29, 2013.

Surviving are her husband of 49 years, Gary Lewis of Salem, Ore.; daughters, Corrine Verna (Steve Verna) of Palmer, and Tracy Lewis (Capi Lynn) of Salem, Ore.; grandsons, R. Connor Hannam of Palmer and presently serving in Kuwait, David Hannam of Palmer, and Hayden Lynn of Salem, Ore.; and siblings, Fay Von Gemmingen (Pat Von Gemmingen) of Palmer, Robert Laurie of Juneau, and Laurie Richmond (Kevin Richmond) of Beaverton, Ore.

SonE was a lifelong Alaska resident, born in Anchorage on Nov. 21, 1942, to Robert and Vivian Laurie. She graduated from Anchorage High School in 1961 before attending the University of Alaska in Fairbanks and meeting her future husband, Gary.

She completed her degree in business administration at Linfield College. SonE and Gary raised their family in Anchorage and later Palmer, and after some years in Cordova, the couple retired in Wrangell where they could be found together fishing and recreating on their boat in Southeast Alaska.

SonE will be remembered as a delight to all who knew her, happy, smiling, loving and ever-enthusiastic. Be it boating, fishing, skiing, entertaining, or travel, her response was always “let’s go.” A loving mother and grandmother, she had a love for life and everyone she met, that will be greatly missed.

A memorial service is at 2 p.m., Aug. 3 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Palmer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, online at curealz.org, or mailed to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, 34 Washington St., Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
