Allen A. Branson
Born Nov 3, 1945, Allen Branson died December 25, 2021 from a tragic fall at home. Allen and his wife, Karen, were married 53 yrs. They had a long history of friendship beginning in grade school and then married in 1968 in Wichita, Kansas. Allen had a burning desire to live in Alaska so he, Karen and their dog, drove the Alcan Highway in 1974, pulling a small trailer. Arriving in Anchorage at the height of building the Alyeska pipeline, housing was nearly zero but jobs were plentiful. He was quickly hired by the State of Alaska and continued with the State until retirement. He began doing maintenance work in some of the Alaskan villages, and had wonderful experiences to tell. He became certified to weld and work on steam boilers, and had a construction background. For a couple of years, he was a maintenance worker at the Pioneer Home in Palmer, Alaska, and later retired from Ted Stevens Airport in Anchorage. Allen loved to fish or hike in the mountains, ride his motorcycle and was the handyman in the home. Preceding him in death is his sister, Charlotte, and his father, Arthur. He leaves behind his wife, Karen; mother, Roberta Cunningham; sisters, Barbara Wilson, Becky Crider, Vivian Coots, a brother, Michael Branson, and many nieces and nephews.
