Wasilla resident Allen Herbert Samuel Tyler, 85, passed away June 26, 2017, at Providence Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

Al was born Feb. 11, 1932, in Buffalo, New York, to George and Mary Tyler and was third youngest of 13 brothers and sisters. He graduated from East Aurora High School and enlisted in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked for Mokeen Oil Company in Riviera, Texas, for many years and then for ARCO in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska from 1978 to about 1997.

Al married the love of his life, Flora Hallmark, July 1, 1955, and raised seven children in Corpus Christi and Riviera, Texas. In 1982 he and some of his family moved to Alaska. In retirement, he traveled the country in his RV and settled in Daytona Beach for a number of years before moving back to Alaska to be near family. He also enjoyed auto mechanics, NASCAR, crosswords, and spending time with family and friends.

Al is preceded in death by his wife, Flora, and son, James Creacy. He is survived by a son, David Creacy of Salina, Kansas, and by five daughters, Janet Bennett of Water Valley, Mississippi, Karen Orlando of Spokane Valley, Washington, Penny Buirge of Wasilla, Alaska, Barbara Price of Wasilla, Alaska, and Sandra Turner of Victoria, Texas, as well as 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Aug. 29, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Legacy Funeral Home Heritage Chapel 1015 S. Check St. in Wasilla, with burial to follow on JBER at 1:30 p.m.
