Longtime Palmer resident Allen Michael Haase, 68, died Aug. 8, 2010, at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna.
Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Palmer Depot. Julie Rock and Gary Paul will officiate.
Allen was born Feb. 1, 1943, in Royal Oak, Mich. He graduated high school and served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Alaska in 1969 and lived in Palmer, working as a Realtor.
He was a fix-it man and enjoyed crossword puzzles, airplanes and heavy equipment.
“My dad was a man who was a person who was there for me and my sister whenever we needed,” his son wrote. “He always tried to instill a positive mindset in us. He always set your mind in the way to change a negative into a positive. Dad would always make sure we knew we were blessed and find the silver lining in every situation. He’d say, ‘We create our own happiness.’ He will be truly missed.”
Mr. Haase was preceded in death by his father, Donald Haase.
He is survived by son, Terry Haase of Kenai; daughter, Leanne Moffitt of Tacoma, Wash.; brothers, Dennis and Gary Haase of Michigan; sisters, Sandy Reed of Fresno, Calif. and Donna Schlickenmeyer of Troy, Mich.; and his mother, Delores Haase of Michigan.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel of Kenai.
