Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Trapper Creek resident Amber B. Jones, 64, died of natural causes Nov. 29 at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Amber was born Sept. 23, 1945 in Scobey, Mont., to Gordan and A. Jewel Dowing.
She moved to Alaska in 1957.
She was employed by Trapper Creek Trading Post.
Her family wrote, “She will be dearly missed for her loving, funny, witty charming ways. We love you “Miss Amber.” Thank you to all the family and friends who were there to love and support.”
She was preceded in death by her son, James Graham III; mother, A. Jewel Hillstrom; father, Howard Hillstrom; sister, Mary Wickersham.
She is survived by her son, Kurtis G. Graham of Virginia; sisters, Sharon Lucas, Joan L. Miller and Marvi McCullough all of Alaska; brothers, Vic Hillstrom of Alaska, Gordon Hillstrom of California, Doug Hillstrom of Colorado; aunt, Suzanne Myszak of Colorado and Rita Bauxbuam of Montana; dear family friend, Donna Thompson of Alaska and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Arrangements are with Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel in Wasilla.
