UPDATE, 10:10 a.m. Nov. 24: Alaska State Troopers identified the skier killed in the Wednesday avalanche as Anchorage resident Randall Bergt, 60.

A skier was killed Wednesday in an avalanche near Archangel Road in Hatcher Pass, Alaska State Troopers said.
In an online dispatch, Troopers said the slide was reported around 2:30 p.m., and that one skier, a male, was reported missing. The skier was later located and CPR initiated, but he did not have a pulse, according to the report.

On 11/22/17, at approximately 1432 hours, AST was notified of an Avalanche in the Hatchers Pass area where one skier was missing. AST Patrol, State Parks, and AWT HELO responded to the area to search for the skier. EMS Rescue was dispatched and responded. While in route AST was notified the skier had been located and they were doing CPR. The AWT HELO arrived and was able to locate the male but was unable to land. AST was notified that the male had no pulse and EMS Rescue arrived along with State Parks and a recovery plan is in place to recover the male. Updates to follow once positive ID of all parties involved is complete.
