With profound sorrow, we announce the tragic passing of Andrew Raymond Gonzalez on February 6, 2025, in the crash of Bering Air Flight 445, while traveling from Unalakleet to Nome, Alaska. His sudden passing leaves immense holes in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on July 13, 1994, in Redwood City, CA, Andrew grew up in Santa Rosa, where he made lifelong friendships and fond memories. He attended Herbert Slater Middle School where he competed in Shot put and discus and learned how to play the saxophone. Andrew graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 2012, where he was a dedicated athlete and an active member of Future Farmers of America. He competed in track and field, played football and rugby, and embraced the values of teamwork and perseverance. Through his activities, he cultivated his love for agriculture, hard work, and camaraderie, forming lasting friendships along the way.
In 2012, Andrew met the love of his life, Whitney Bowers, in Santa Rosa, CA. Their love story began with an effortless connection, filled with adventure and laughter. In 2021, during their first trip to Alaska, a place that immediately captured their hearts, Andrew dropped to one knee and asked Whitney to spend forever with him. She said "yes" within a heartbeat.
The following year, Andrew and Whitney seized the opportunity without hesitation to take on a new adventure, packing up their lives to move to Wasilla, Alaska. There, they purchased their first home, creating a sanctuary where they could grow and build a beautiful life together.
As a power generation technician, Andrew traveled to some of the most remote regions of Alaska, ensuring that schools, health clinics, and villages had reliable power. He embraced the challenges of the job, thriving in demanding conditions and taking pride in knowing his work made a real difference. His strong work ethic, problem-solving abilities, and natural ability to connect with others left a lasting impact on both the communities he served and the colleagues who had the privilege of working alongside him. Andrew loved cooking, not for himself but for the joy it brought others, of sharing his creations. Whether perfecting his smoked meats or experimenting with new recipes, he took pride in making meals that brought people together. He dreamed of one day opening his own food truck. Outside the kitchen, Andrew found peace in the outdoors, especially fishing, where he could unwind and take in Alaska's beauty. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his closest friends and family, his chosen people. He also enjoyed gaming, whether for friendly competition or simply to relax. But his happiest moments were at home with his wife and their three beloved dogs, embracing the simple joys of life together. Andrew was the embodiment of kindness, loyalty, and selflessness. He would do anything for anyone in need, always putting others before himself without hesitation. His deep love for his family and friends was evident in everything he did. Andrew had a rare gift for bringing light into the lives of those around him, whether through his sharp wit, playful sarcasm, or the effortless way he made people feel seen and valued. His presence radiated warmth and laughter, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled. He is survived by his wife, Whitney Bowers, his parents Yvette and Oscar Gonzalez, his in-laws, Mark and Heather Bowers and his siblings, Francesca Arga, Oscar Gonzalez Jr., and their children, Galilee, Victor, Maximiliano, Jordan, and Ivan. He also leaves behind a large extended family and many dear friends he considered family, all of whom will forever carry his memory in their hearts. Those who wish to support Andrew's memory are invited to offer contributions to help Whitney navigate these difficult times. Your generosity will provide her with the support needed and allow her the time to grieve her heartbreaking loss.

A funeral procession will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, at Legacy Funeral Home in Wasilla, Alaska, and will proceed to the service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Willow, located at 23091 Downing Rd, Alaska.
