Willow resident Anna Lou Levinson passed away June 29, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family.

A graveside service will be held at Aurora Cemetery on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 1 p.m.

Anna Lou was born the oldest child of John and Betty Dyson in Malden, Massachusetts on September 1, 1940.

The family lived at naval bases throughout the United States. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from San Jose State University in 1963, Anna Lou began her life of travel and adventure when she moved across the country to New York City. While in New York City, Anna Lou met and married her husband Steve and welcomed her first son, Alan, to the world in 1965. The young family moved to France and lived for a time before returning to New York where Anna Lou’s second son, Donald, was born in 1966.

The family travelled across the U.S., adventuring along the way, until 1970 when they settled in Albany, California where Anna Lou worked as a school library aide. The travel bug bit again in 1979 when the family relocated to Dillingham, Alaska where Anna Lou served as the city librarian for the next 16 years. She then relocated to Willow in 1995, working at the Talkeetna Public Library until her retirement in 2002.

Anna Lou led a full life enjoying museums, shopping, performances, Aces hockey, garden shows, library gatherings and her pets. She loved to travel - her adventures included Europe, South America, Mexico, and any place warm - especially those where she could find family or friends to spend time with.

Anna Lou is survived by her brother, John “Mac” Dyson of Burlingame, CA; her son Alan and his wife Tiki of Delta Junction, her daughter-in-law Amy Wilks and her husband Michael of Wasilla, and her four grandchildren Taylor and Thea of Delta Junction, Heather of Salt Lake City, and Nicole of Wasilla. Anna Lou was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stephan and her son Donald.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Anna Lou’s memory to Clear Creek Cat Rescue of Wasilla.
