PALMER —Valley Community for Recycling Solutions’ sixth annual fundraising luncheon was Feb. 21 at Evangelo’s Restaurant.
This year’s theme was friendships symbolized by handmade friend “ships” created from recycled material.
Five fashionably recycled outfits from the Valley Arts Alliance’s “Wearable Art Show” were modeled for the OCEAN attendees, while volunteers counted the “loot” gathered from each of 20 tables.
The models presented the awards to the top three money-giving tables.
In first place were “The Friends of Janet Kincaid;” second, “The Friends of Linda Sloan;” and third, UPS Store No. 3548 and Alyeska Pipeline Service Company.
The awards were clever works of art made from old CDs and DVDs. First prize was in the shape of a fish.
