Arnold "Bert" Blackadar, 52, died March 7, 2019 at his home in Wasilla, Alaska.
Bert was born June 24, 1966, in Tampa, Florida to Arnold and Margaret Blackadar. At the age of 12, his parents moved him and his two younger siblings to Anchorage, in search of a new start and new opportunities. He graduated from East High School in 1984. Bert had an incredible work ethic, proving to be a valuable asset to every employer he had. He could build anything, fix anything and brought a calm, patient attitude to every situation he found himself in. In his downtime, he loved the peace and solitude of fly fishing in the creeks and rivers that this beautiful state has to offer. He put on thousands of miles over the years, going on countless trail rides with friends and family. Bert also inherited his father's love of racing. He loved attending Nascar races in the lower 48, drag races and local events here in Alaska. Bert truly was the man that could do everything. He was the son that made you proud, the husband that made you feel safe and loved, and the big brother and friend that was always there for you. He will be missed by all that knew him, even for the briefest moment.
Bert was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Sr, and his maternal grandmother, Inez McGhin.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Stacey; his mother, Margaret Blackadar; sister and brother in-law, Leona and Rickey Gillespie; brother and sister in-law, Raymond and Kristina Blackadar; his two lovely nieces, Dominique and Karlie and his godson Miles.
At his request, there will be no Memorial Service.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 13th, 2019 at Alaska Raceway Park at 2:00 PM for his friends and fellow race enthusiasts.
