Arthur Allen Jennings, 71, passed away May 20, 2015, at his home in Wasilla.
Art was born in Hillsboro, Oregon, Aug. 5, 1943. He was a U.S. Armyman and served on many tours, a few of which brought him to Alaska. His military achievements included two meritorious service medals, an Army achievement medal and an Army commendation medal. He retired from the Army in Fort Lewis, Washington, in 1983 and moved back to Alaska in 1990.
Art enjoyed creating landscapes with oil paint. He considered himself a self-taught fishing expert. He also completed his memoirs, which is in its publishing stage.
The family of Arthur wishes to thank the Mat-Su Regional Home Health and Hospice team for the devotion and special care given to Art these past few months.
Art is survived by his wife, Jessie; children, Greg, Jay, James, Gene and Lorrie; his stepson, Kirk; his ex-wife, Nancy; his sisters, Elaine and Carol; grandchildren, Alexandria, David, Leah, Jacob, Miles, Alison, and Max; daughters-in-law Cathy, Robin and Kelsey; two great-grandchildren; and his pets, Isaac and Abbey.
A gathering of family and friends will be announced in the months to come.
