Barbara A. Godfrey, 83, of Coldwater, MI, formerly of Palmer, AK, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018.
Services were held at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater, interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw, IN.
Barbara was born February 17, 1935 in Clintonville, WI to Loyal & Irene (Parsley) Higgins. She married Wesley W. Godfrey on July 3, 1954 in Warsaw, IN.
Barb and Wes spent several years in Alaska, coming back to Indiana in 1970 where she served as the Fremont City Clerk/Treasurer. They moved to Coldwater in 1988 and Barb worked for the Community Health Center of Branch County in the nursing office for 14 years. She then spent many years at Southern MI Bank and Trust before her retirement.
Barbara was an avid sports fan, especially Indiana basketball. Aside from Wes, her three greatest joys in life were Vinni, Vito and Sal. She loved attending their school activities and sporting events. Barb enjoyed life and was always up for a good debate. She enjoyed people and conversation, over a glass of wine. Barb was spunk at its best. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Barbara is survived by her husband Wes, her sister Anita Jean (Noel) Woods of Palmer, AK, her brother Thair Higgins of San Francisco, CA, her nieces Lynn Miller of Anchorage, AK, Jolane Wiegand of New Mexico, her cousins Janet Zimmer, Deb Swihart and Ruth Griswold all of Warsaw, IN and her grandchildren Vinni, Vito and Sal Barone all of Coldwater.
