Former Wasilla resident Barbara A. Williams died peacefully on March 31, 2017 surrounded by family at her home in Riverton, Wyoming. She was 83 years old. Barbara was born Dec 9, 1934 to Hubert C. and Wilma R. Jones in Dobson, North Carolina She was a wife, homemaker, mother and friend to many. She married W.R. “Bill” Williams on April 6, 1961 and they lived in Alaska until his retirement, then moved to Colorado and Arizona. After her husband’s death Barbara moved back to Riverton, Wyoming where she grew up, to be near family. She enjoyed fishing, camping, playing golf, but mostly spending time with her family and many friends.
Survivors include her son Joey Jones of Riverton, Wyoming, daughter Joni Shiels of Forks, Washington, grandson Sheridan Shiels of Enumclaw, Washington, son and daughter in-law Casey and Bebe Williams and granddaughter Blaze Williams of Wasilla, Alaska, sisters Mrs. N.D. “Mona” Thomas, Mrs. Don “Nelda” Harper, Mrs. Vernon “Brenda” David, sisters-in-law Mrs. Jason “Pearl” Jones and Mrs. Ida Elliot, brothers-in-law Vernon David and Don Harper.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hubert and Wilma Jones. Husband, and love of her life, W.R., “Bill” Williams and brothers Edward and Jason Jones. Barbara’s ashes will be spread with her husband’s at their favorite Alaskan mountain range. At her request no formal service will be held.
