Barbara “Barby” Frances Carroll Mayo
Barbara “Barby” Frances Carroll Mayo was born to Robert and Frances Carroll in Las Vegas, NV on 6/10/1942, and entered heaven on 10/8/2021, in Chandler, AZ. Barbara passed away after a short battle with cancer, with the Lord in her heart and her beloved family by her side. She is survived by her husband and soulmate Linn Mayo; children, Lida Mayo, Erika May (Patrick), Gerran Mayo, and Babette Ruda (Chad); 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition, she leaves behind 3 brothers; Bob, Jim and Don and a sister, Joanne Poland. Barbara grew up in the small foothill farming community of Auburn, CA. She was always a daddy’s girl. Due to WWII her father did not return from the war until 1945. Barbara was 3 years old and saw her father for the first time as her mom and dad were hugging and kissing when he arrived home from the war. Barbara didn’t know why her mom was kissing this stranger. From that time on, however, she was Daddy’s girl. Barbara graduated from Placer High School class of 1960 and later Sierra College while it was located in Auburn. She spent her teenage years working for her father at Martin’s Jewelers in Auburn and later managed Carroll’s Jewelers for her father in Placerville, CA. It was during this time that she learned the art of selling, which she excelled at throughout her life. She later became an optician and lived in Alaska, Hawaii, and Arizona. Barby donated her body to medical research. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you please donate to the Wounded Warrior Project in her honor.
