Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Longtime Wasilla resident Barbara Jean Cutler, 79, died Jan. 10, 2012, surrounded by loved ones in Wasilla.
Funeral services in honor of Barbara were Feb. 3 at the Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla. Rev. Trent Broome officiated. Graveside services will follow at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery.
Barbara was born Dec. 6, 1932, to Haller B. and Ethel Mae (Thompson) Ashley in Los Angeles, Calif. She moved to Anchorage in 1954 and founded Cutler Construction with her husband. Barbara moved to Wasilla in 1987, where she resided since. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, cooking, gardening, sewing, homemaking, pinochle and spending time with family.
Family states, "She will be greatly missed."
Preceding her in death was her husband, Orville "Jay" James Cutler.
Surviving is her daughter, Sondra Hayton of Wasilla; sons, Donald Cutler of Aurora, Colo., Jay Cutler of Wasilla, Kenneth Cutler of Wasilla and Jerry Cutler of Maui, Hawaii; granddaughters, Christina of Palmer, Heather, Angela and Diane of Wasilla, Lisa of Anchorage, Dawne Michelle of Newaygo, Mich., Shirley of Aurora, Colo., Alisha of Portland, Ore., Ashley of Maui, Hawaii, and Rayne of Maui, Hawaii; grandsons, Christopher of Anchorage, Steven of Aurora, Colo., Jared, Chaz and Bradley of Maui, Hawaii; and 13 great-grandchildren.
