Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Barbara M. Baranowski, 49, of Wasilla, died Feb. 10, 2010, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.
Barbara was the daughter of Maynard and Pauline (Jackson) Bertolet. She was born on Dec. 16, 1960, in Bellefonte, Pa., moving to Alaska in 1998. She had attended Harrisburg Area Community College and was pursuing a degree in social services at UAA Mat-Su at the time of her death.
Barbara placed taking care of her children as the most important responsibility in her life. Barbara was a volunteer at Meadow Lakes Elementary School. She also loved camping and spending time at the beach.
She is survived by two daughters, Kira Baranowski and Theodora Baranowski living at home; her parents, Maynard and Pauline Bertolet of Pennsylvania; a sister, Ann Samples of Pennsylvania; and five brothers, Ed Eboch, James Eboch, Dan Bertolet, Ben Bertolet. Maynard Bertolet and Lee Bertolet, all of Pennsylvania.
The family is planning a memorial service to be held at a later date.
Arrangements were made through Valley Funeral Home, Wasilla Chapel.
