Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Beatrice Phyllis Hunter, 96, died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Nov. 3, 2010.
Beatrice was born in Hensel, N.D and at the age of 7 moved to the Big Sky Country of Montana. At age 22, Bea fell in love and married Robert Hunter on May 29, 1936.
Bea made the move to Alaska in 1983, where she lived in Eagle River, Wasilla and Anchorage. She had a passion for making dolls and stuffed animal toys. She loved to laugh and play bingo, enjoyed music and spending time with her family.
Beatrice was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ruth Ann.
She is survived by her son, John and his wife, Marilyn Hunter, of Georgia; daughter, Janice and her husband, LeRoy Turner, of Anchorage; grandchildren, Laura and Gordon Armstrong of Anchorage, Robert and Lori Hunter of South Carolina, Duane and Sabrina of Illinois and Ronnie of Florida. Bea was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Delaney, Riley, Brogan and Callan Armstrong of Anchorage.
All arrangements are under the direction of Anchorage Funeral Home.
