Billy Roberts Adams

Mr. Billy Roberts Adams Sr., 83, passed away April 20, 2010, at Caring Hearts Assisted Living in Wasilla due to natural causes. A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Valley Funeral Home, 151 E. Herning Ave., in Wasilla. A public viewing will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m., as well as after the service. Pastor Brian Thomas and Rev. Ray Hibberd will officiate. Interment will be at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery.

Billy was born Nov. 29, 1926, in Ellisville, Miss., to Arthur H. and Anna W. (Roberts) Adams. He graduated high school at Tilden Technical High School in Chicago. He was a radio technician in the Army.

In January 1970, Billy moved to Alaska. He lived in Bethel for 22 years before moving to Palmer.

He was employed as the director of plant facilities in the Lower Kuskokwim School District in Bethel from 1971 until 1988, when he retired. He was a member of Wasilla Lake Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed working with computers, genealogy, woodworking and also enjoyed working as a locksmith.

“When anyone asked for advice on any questions, minutes would pass. When prompted his answer was, “I’m thinking.” The advice he finally gave was well worth waiting for, his family stated. “He was a wonderful father and husband and will be missed by all.”

He is survived by his wife, Georgia G. Adams of Palmer; brother, Jack Huntington Adams of Minnetonka, Minn.; son, Jeffrey A. Adams of Palmer; daughter, Ann L. Adams of Juneau; daughter, Roberta L. Fisher of Palmer; son, Steven S. Adams of Wasilla; daughter, Faith M. Dill of Greenfield, Ind.; son, Billy Roberts Adams Jr. of St. Louis, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathrine A. Adams; son, Paul D. Adams; brothers, Hubert Barton and Arthur Harold Adams; and parents Arthur Huntington Adams and Anna Wilena Roberts.

Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla.
