Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Willow resident Blaine P. Aman Jr., 70, died Dec. 17, 2007, at home from complications of a heart attack.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Dec. 29 at the United Methodist Church in Willow. Pastor Steve Elder will officiate. Interment of his ashes will be at a later date at the National Cemetery in Dover, Ohio, with military honors.
Aman was born Nov. 8, 1937, in Canton, Ohio, to Blaine Sr. and Doris Aman. He received his GED there and served in the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force, giving a total of 23 years of service to his country. He retired in 1977 from the Air Force, from which he received many awards.
Aman first lived in Alaska from May 1991 to May 1996 and then returned for good in May 2001, living in Anchorage, Healy, Sunshine and most recently Willow. While living in Healy, he worked for O’Hare’s Aircraft and the Healy school system. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, DV, NRA and the Fishing Club. He enjoyed aircraft work, helping others when needed, fishing, gardening and his military awards.
Aman was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his sons and friends, and fishing. He enjoyed vacations with his wife and his quiet time.
Aman is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of Willow; sons, Robert J., Ronald V. and Timothy P. Aman; step-daughter, Terisa Adkins; step-sons, John McCord Jr. and Warder McCord III, all of Canton, Ohio; sister, Patricia Mericer of Massillon, Ohio; brother, William Aman of Coleville, Wash.; and many friends and relatives.
Valley Funeral Homes and Crematory of Wasilla and Palmer assisted the family.
