Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident, Bo Won Lee, 90, died Jan. 13 surrounded by her family at her home in Wasilla.
A funeral was held Jan. 18 at the Valley Funeral Home. Chaplain Stuart Mitchell officiated. A gathering immediately followed the services at the Kang residence.
Mrs. Lee was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Pyung Yang, North Korea. She had six children, of which, a son and her second born, passed away at the young age of 5 in Pyung Yang. The family fled North Korea at the beginning of the Korean War in 1950. The city of Inchon (west of Seoul) became the family’s home until she immigrated to Virginia in 1980. She has lived with her first son in Wasilla since 2005.
She was a member of a Full Gospel Fellowship during her years in South Korea and a member of the Korean Baptist Church, associated with Fairview Loop Baptist Church in Wasilla.
“She will be greatly missed by the family and the few close friends,” wrote the family.
Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Chan Hyuk Kang, in 1953 in Inchon, Korea.
She is survived by her two sons, Yung Soon Kang and Yung Gook Kang; and three daughters, Yung Ja Cheo, Yung Joo Choi and Yung Hee Hae; she is also survived by four grandsons and three granddaughters.
Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.
