Longtime Wasilla resident Bob Zehnder, 67, passed away Oct. 18, 2016 peacefully at home.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Settler’s Bay Lodge.

Bob was born October 3, 1949 in Tacoma, Washington. He met his wife Kathy Fuller at Seattle University, where he acquired his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. They were married on March 19, 1971 in Seattle. He and Kathy moved to Alaska in January 1972, where he worked for a short time as an electrical engineer before becoming a journeyman power lineman for the IBEW. He became a business rep in April 1988 and later became the assistant business manager in July 1992 for the IBEW Union Hall until his retirement in 2003.

He cherished spending time with his family and friends, including many boating excursions on the Deshka River. He enjoyed playing on the computer, driving around the world on Google Earth and anything else that stimulated his mind. He loved sharing his knowledge and would give his opinions and advice over and over. It was commonplace in his retirement years to see him with a smile on his face. To his children, he was selfless, stern, loyal, caring, a role model, and a storyteller. To his grandchildren, he “made me smile,” was interesting, funny, pesky, strong, smart, warm and cuddly, and a comedian.

Bob is survived by his wife, Kathy; son James (Mica) Zehnder; daughter Jennifer Zehnder; son Robert (Corinne) Zehnder; grandchildren Shelby, Alexis, Abigail, Sierra, McKenzie, William, Jacob, Robert, Grant, and Kimberlyn; his sisters, Susan Janes and Nancy Zehnder; brother Matthew Zehnder; mother in-law, Sally Fuller; brothers in-law Ken (Linda), Mark (Brenda), Mike (Kathryn), Joel (Janette), and Rob Fuller; and a very large extended family in Alaska, Washington, Nevada, and California. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. Zehnder and Beverly Zehnder, son Eric Zehnder, and father-in-law Skip Fuller.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your favorite charity or enjoy a special day with your family.
