Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

“Bobbie” Knutson left this world to join her husband, Luverne, on October 28th. Born Barbara Louise Conn to Didrika Anderson and Gordon Conn on March 17, 1936. Bobbie met and married Luverne Knutson on October 4, 1954. Together they raised 4 children. The family moved to Alaska in 1964. Their pioneer spirit had them settling on the Palmer side of Hatcher Pass in 1967 when Edgerton/Parks was no more than a glorified trail with a party line of 13 families. With a brief return to Minnesota in 1971 returning to Alaska in 1973. Hatcher Pass has been her home most of her adult life. Bobbie worked at the Valley Hotel, Palmer Video, the Motherlode Lodge, Hatcher Pass Lodge and the Fishhook Bar to name a few places. Bobbie loved gardening and gossip. She so enjoyed an afternoon at the Fishhook Bar and Grill with a cup of Carolan’s and Coffee catching up on the latest goings on. Bobbie is preceded in death by her parents, Didrika and Gordon Conn, her husband, Luverne Knutson, son Steven Knutson, Daughter Karen Dupont. She is survived by daughter, Jana (Lin) Turner, Eric (Kris) Knutson, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She leaves a legacy and will be missed. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, December 6th at 4:00 pm at Fishhook Bar and Grill. Please join us to toast Bobbie with a Carolan’s and Coffee.
